I got my much-desired ribbon at the Washington County Fair last week!
I’ve been so excited since I found out last Wednesday, it’s been hard to think about anything else. Wednesday was the first day of the fair, and since my husband (and number one fan) TC couldn’t wait to see how I’d done, we went to the fair that evening just to browse the exhibits (and maybe have a slice of pizza?) Don’t judge too harshly, I only ate half of my slice. Anyway –
The first thing we saw walking into the photography exhibit area? Was THIS!
See the piggy lounging in the sun in the lower right hand corner? That one is mine. My well-exercised heart began to pound, and I can’t accurately describe the feelings of pride I felt as TC gushed over my accomplishment. He has always believed in my abilities and has done so much to encourage me to pursue my passions. I think he’s been frustrated at times in my own lack of self-confidence, in particular when it comes to my photography. It’s held me back for a long time, so seeing such amazing results come from my first time competing felt like a reward for both of us, and that made me so happy!
This was my best performing piece (it also won a blue ribbon). I had entered the maximum of 5 photos, and am happy to report that three of the others placed, as well: One blue ribbon (first place), one red (second place), and one white (third place). If I had any expectations (more like, hopes) going in, I crushed them. Not bad for the girl who is always afraid to try. I am still trying to absorb everything I am supposed to learn from this, and to not dwell on the fact that failure will come again. It doesn’t mean I can enjoy the victory now, right?
Okay, enough blabbering about my ribbons… On to my fruits and veggies challenge that I wrote about last week.
I didn’t do as well as I’d hoped, but better that I was doing before this challenge. So… a win? You decide:
Two days, I got all 5 colors in.
One day I got 4 colors in.
Two days I got 3 colors in.
And… one day I forgot to track them. :/
I hope to do much better this week. Scratch that, I WILL do better this week. And, I did log 5 workouts in 7 days, so I am finding consistency there.
Maybe I need to start imagining my fruits and veggies as county fair prize ribbons? :)
